After graduating with a BS in earth sciences from UC Santa Cruz in 2012, I worked on water quality issues as a stewardship intern at a small non-profit, an Americorps Watershed Stewards Program member, and a GIS technician before being hired to the Santa Clara Valley Water District as a water resources specialist. There, I manage technical studies aimed at reducing methyl-mercury production and bioaccumulation in reservoirs impacted by historic mercury mining. My main research interests involve the controls on the bio-availability of inorganic mercury, and applied methods of reducing mercury methylation in seasonally-stratified reservoirs. I currently serve on the board of the California Lake Management Society. I began my MS in the Beutel Lab in Spring of 2019. My personal interests include rock climbing (I’ve climbed on 5 continents), whitewater kayaking, DIY projects, and cooking.
