Jackie is an ecologist and pedagogical consultant. She earned her degrees in biology (B.S.), Mycology (M.Sc.), and Quantitative and Systems Biology (Ph.D.) all while exploring inclusive teaching practices as a graduate student instructor. Jackie has been teaching since 2006 and has served as the Associate Director for UC Merced's Center for Engaged Teaching and Learning. Now, as a faculty member at UCSB, Jackie continues to focus on STEM education research, studying how experiential learning and field-based learning increase a student's sense of belonging and self-efficacy in STEM disciplines.
