The Community Nutrition Lab focuses on preventing malnutrition by engaging in research and extension efforts to develop, adapt, and evaluate culturally relevant, theory-driven approaches to promote sound eating choices and sensible feeding practices in at-risk populations.
What is Community Nutrition?
Community Nutrition is the area of dietetics concerned with reducing the prevalence of diet-related diseases and their complications by improving the nutritional health of individuals, families, and targeted groups within community settings. This is achieved through primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention interventions that reflect culturally sensitive applications of health behavior theory across the lifespan (Bruening 2015).
